A leading macro trading firm in London is seeking an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to join their IT team. The successful candidate will provide front-line technical support for traders and business staff, ensuring the smooth operation of workstations, software, and peripherals. This role is ideal for someone with strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of fast-paced, high-pressure environments like trading floors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide prompt and efficient support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and other peripherals in a Windows environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and network issues for trading systems and business-critical applications.
- Collaborate with traders and stakeholders to quickly address and resolve technical problems.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware.
- Manage and support user accounts, permissions, and access across various systems.
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patching of desktops and applications.
- Ensure compliance with IT security policies and implement best practices to safeguard sensitive trading information.
- Document technical issues and resolutions for future reference and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience in a Desktop Support or IT Support role, preferably in a financial services or trading environment.
- Expertise in Windows operating systems, hardware troubleshooting, and software support.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP) and experience with virtual desktop environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, with a customer-focused approach to IT support.
- Financial services experience, particularly within trading environments, is a plus but not essential.
